Automatic singing.Regardless of whether the team needed it or not.

Standard tactics. (Absolutely no Plan B for a Red card)

I'm glad we won obviously, but its a warning in NEON for the board.
We need a manager that has a clue if we go up..

Sorry guys, this is not an anti-team post, but a realistic post. With our players we should be like Reading were this time last year - 20 points clear of the dross.

Come on Steve, get out of your comfot zone.

Bleeding hell, im all for Bruce being replaced, but he didn't do anything wrong tonight or against Cardiff, :banghead: i thought we were very good again tonight, and it was nice to see us go from the start, i thought we controlled Derby all night, like i said im not a Bruce fan but credit where its due, thought he got it spot on tonight and didn't change a winning side.

fully agree with salad_dodger, im also not Brucies biggest fan but he made the correct decision and actually showed some tactical knowledge bringing Jerome on.

Top marks for SB tonight.

He knew that with Mcsheffers off, we would be carrying Bendy. Put Vine on the left, a hard working player, and brought Jerome on, another hard working player. Can't fault it.

I thought Mcsheffers deserved his red card,.....it was an awful challenge, and irresponsible.

Doyle is looking assured, well done to him.

I thought The back 4 were very good.

Overall, a reasonable performance and a deserved albeit slender victory.

One other thing I'd like to mention is the tv coverage and critiscism of our pitch. FFS....it was dangerous before....we tried to fix it...stop going on about it as if we've done it on purpose and we've done something bad....

If Bruce had made a change as soon as the red card happened what's the chances that Jerome wouldn't have been warmed up properly and he'd have come on, charged about, pulled something and been out for a month?

He got it dead right. Waited for Bendtner to be out of steam and bought the right player on. The first eleven was spot on, the changes after the red card were spot on and it was a fully deserved three points.

Top of the table, game in hand on Derby, seven points clear of the Baggies. Sorted.

I can't believe I've just read those two posts. Top of the league, seven points clear of third place and some people still criticise.

I wonder why Brummies have the reputation of being some people. I'm sure I don't know.

Brilliant game tonight!
There will always be people like this who will find something to moan about,
No matter what SB does he will never be right in their eyes!
Talk about glass half empty!

Sorry, but you're going to have to point out to me where all Derby's goalscoring opportunities were after we went a man down, because otherwise the "standard" tactics must have worked pretty well.

What did you want him to do differently exactly? Go three up front?

Agreed. I have no respect for that opinion what so ever.

I think our pitch is our greatest ally at the moment. We are getting used to it, any visitors will have problems now.

But I will agree that in the past DJ would have been an instant sub after the red. That he was not is credit to Steve Bruce, he still carried an attacking threat to the opposition, rather than sit on a 1-0. And we won.It shows that he is learning.

What I think, people like blacksmith are missing is the quality of leadership and tactics that is being criticised.

Well done tonight, Blues.

If that was the Leaders, how rubbish is this division.

God help us next year if we go up.

And

NO

that is not an anti-Bruce or anti-team sentiment.

Look at us. We may be top this week, but look at our run-in.
Look at Sunderland's and Derby's run-in.

Blues don't frighten me nor me granny.

And we should. With our team, we should make other teams think they're coming to Chelsea or Man Utd.
Instead we face each match with hope, not conviction.

OK **thumbup

Thought it was a good game, lots of passion shown from both sides.

Got to say that your defence was excellent, it hadn't looked that good in previous games I've seen this season but last night it was top notch and limited us to, well, no good chances at all to be honest.

The game was won by a moment of magic, not a lot we could've done about that, really good goal.

The positives I'll take are that McSheffrey will be banned for three matches (I think) which no one can argue with, awful tackle. Another is that the worst position we can be in at the end of the Weekend is three points clear of third place, which I can't grumble at.

Congrats on the win, we'll bounce back straight away I'd imagine, two home games in a row next and I expect six points.

You should go up from what I saw last night, well clear of second and will have a game in hand again at the end of today. The race for the title is still on though.

Good observations Lawson,i thought our defence was good all night, N'gotty had a rocky patch for a couple of minutes , but hey. Personally i don't worry too much about winning the championship , second place come the end of the season will do me fine.
I expected a bit more from Giles Barnes last night , but he may have been a little fatigued with 3 games in just over a week . Good luck to Derby in there quest for promotion, just stay ahead and match the rest of the pack and everything will be fine....easy isn't it

I ain't worried about winning the Championship, but I have a bet on it so that adds a little more :D

I had doubts about your team but last night pretty much cancelled them out.
